I even found an entire species that I had somehow missed the last 4 years I have been orchid hunting, and it was a big patch next to the trail. They are just about to bloom so you will get to see pictures soon!

Afid, can I just say, 32 acres (129499 square meters, or 0.129499 square kilometers) is an insane amount of land (insanely large, that is). I just did some measurements on Google Earth, and a square covering 32 acres, with my house at the center, would engulf a hundred or so houses (too lazy to count exactly how many, but it's a lot!)... no wonder you have wild orchids!

Half an acre is still pretty big here though, although not ridiculous like 32 acres. I'm still hopeful though, someone near me has a wild Dendrobium crumenatum growing on their rambutan tree. This is pretty off topic (Although I've heard that the forum doesn't mind that too much), but does putting orchids in trees / the ground increase the likelihood that the correct fungus will grow in the tree / ground?

There are also some patches of forest near me, but I have yet to find any orchids. Either I missed them, I visited in the wrong time of year, or they just aren't there.

I just remembered I started this thread! A lot has been going on since my last post (mainly traveling across the state to see orchids). I will try to post some updates soon (later tonight if I remember) as a lot of new things have come and gone since my last post.
