Cheri, my favorite sis-in-law died in 2013. The funeral was in Shreveport, right before Thanksgiving. We drove home Thanksgiving day and it was 24f. I shivered through the internment. It gets cold down there! I didn't even take a jacket.

Hey, y’all northerners may laugh but I’m tellin ya, it gets cold down here
Especially when you are used to 95F+ with 99% humidity for about 8 months of the year. We already had nights in the upper 30s and when you pair that with the high humidity, it’s this nasty bone chilling cold and nobody leaves their house for nothing. City becomes a ghost town after the sun sets lol! we still get teased with a few warm days or weeks, but overall, I’m dressed like a puffed up marshmello till March (thank goodness Mardi Gras is late this year!). Greenhouse usually stay up till April just in case, even if it’s open most days
And yep Shreveport is even worse. No thanks!

Well thank you!

Just an iPhone Xs for everything and for that close up, and a few others like the bulbo and ceratostylis, I added a cheap clip on macro lens I picked up; Xenvo Pro Lens Kit. I’m still playing around with that thing and trying to figure out how to use it best. It’s been a challenge to get clear images for those macro shots when things are swaying in the breeze or I’m having the jitters after 5 cups of coffee

Dendrobium eriiflorum (or, eriaeflorum?). Completely charming! This was an Andy’s purchase and I love how delicate it looks and that pretty, wavy mint green lip. Smells like honeysuckle, too

I suspect your "wangii" is a hybrid, however. If you look at the sepals, petals, and lip, they are missing some key markers. The sepals and petals should be thin at the basal connection and wide platters on the alate wings. I may be wrong and the angle of the photo may be hiding it, but yours are even width on the length.

The lip appears to be at a 90 degree angle and short. It should have a significant downward angle and longer. Most wangii also have an indentation centrally at the lip end. Also the lip is missing the significant margin ruffling. This suggests a possible hybrid.

Maybe Holc. Pink Jenny or even a different Holc. species?

The first photo is Pink Jenny. The second is another listed wangii like yours, but I suspect is not. The link is to what wangii should look like.

Happy King’s Day! Hope every one had a good holiday season and time for another go round of blooms.

I blasted a few flowers on this Catasetum but otherwise I’m pretty happy with the its first flowering. They are large, colorful, fragrant, and have held up nicely.

Here's my Mediocalcar decoratum. I can’t seem to get a big flush of blooms like I have seen some people get but it has been blooming since mid December with a few flowers open at a time. Super cute little pumpkin/lantern looking things that last for about 5 days








Dendrobium abberans. First time trying to grow a Latouria type mounted and I was quite skeptical. It did great which makes me wonder if this one might like to be a touch on the dryer side as opposed to my Den. macrophyllum that I haven’t let dry out in 2 years... we will see how it grows this year







Epidendrum stamfordianum. I let this thing get HAMMERED with sun. Afternoon sun. Tropical, hot unfiltered afternoon sun. It did not burn. Lots of rain. Lots of air. It bloomed. And it bloomed well. It’s growing over the edge and I want to repot it but I have no idea how to approach such a thing. I don’t even know how I would drop it in another basket without crushing those roots
