May blooms! Male
Default May blooms!

I'm really excited because my first ever NOID Phal bloomed again (I kind of ignored it for a couple of years and it refused to bloom). I know it's kind of a common hybrid, but it's really special and valuable to me because it was my gateway drug to orchids (I specially love the little spot that it has on its flowers, it changes from flower to flower and to me it looks like a "beauty mark").

Also, my Psychopsis Mendenhall 'Hildos' FCC/AOS is finally in bloom (first time I see a Psychopsis in bloom) and it's growing a second spike! It is the first orchid that really surprised my Dad (he loves my carnivorous plants but doesn't really care about my orchids).

And to top it all off, my Neo falcata finally bloomed. It doesn't look as I expected and I think it isn't a Kibana, but I love it anyway.

I think I discovered flower spikes on my Lycaste aromatica, so I'm looking forward to those blooms too.

Those are definitely buds on the Lyc. aromatica but why isn't the pseudobulb in potting mix? Just jabbing you, mine's hanging over the edge of the pot, too.

I can't wait for the buds! I'm going to convert it to Semi Hydro as soon as it develops new roots (I bought it almost rootless anyway) so it's been just standing in dry LECA since winter. It really took its time to show any signs of life, but I'm happy it decided to bloom!
