This Dendrobium tannii came from Andys Orchids in March 2016 as a blooming-sized seedling. I goofed up a few times over the last year; I put it into a bucket to soak overnight, and forget about it. That killed most of the new growths it made last season.

Very nice! Good thing it survived your drowning attempt, poor thing.

I've been wanting that one... one of my visits there I saw a group but they told me that the color range was variable and I just don't want a white one (even though I normally love white flowers, don't know why I was picky that day)... anyway, that's a great light lavender/pink!

Good to know it can handle abuse, and I guess it handled high heat and lowish humidity at times?

It was in the sunroom. Until July 2016 I splashed buckets of water on the floor twice a day to keep humidity up, at least 60%. Temperatures went up to the low 100s F / 39C during the day, lower at night.

Mid July 2016 I got a portable evaporative cooler, which I ran constantly in the sunroom. Humidity was always 70% plus, and temperature 80 F / 27C most of the time. I turned the swamp cooler off October 2016. Humidity remains 60% plus. During the winter I heated the space to a minimum of 60 F / 15C.

It took well over a month for the buds to emerge then open.

Still going strong. I'm wondering whether it had spider mites - there seem to be little pits on the leaves I just noticed after taking the photo.

Some of my dens had pitting like that and leaves began falling off! I have several that are very poor looking now. Spray that right away it is mites! I have had plants that have that in active flower but it gets worse. It may be old...

I love when blooms last a long time. It looks good even if you made a boo boo.
