A testament to my photography skills! The flower is actually a pale violet shading to blue. Today is the second day the flower opened, and it seems bluer to my eyes than yesterday. I'm hoping this trend continues, as true blue coloration is one of my favorite aspects of the species.

I guess I'm doubly blessed in having esoteric tastes, and very good friends!

I do see the blue at the top, now that you mentioned it. I love it when blooms change from one beautiful color to another.

You also have to think like the camera, not like the eye. It's similar when training dogs - they can't think like you no matter what.

Most people's #1 problem is a dirty lens. After that it's not holding the camera stable.

I looked at your photos Jan-Aug. The problem may be a camera that is set to focus on an average of everything in the viewfinder. On many of the photos the background is in focus. Many cameras are set like this by default. If you go into the camera settings menu you will probably find a setting to focus on the center of the viewfinder, which is probably what you want to be in focus.

Thanks for the tips, I'll get into the settings and see what I can do!

September, Spiranthes cernua odorata 'Chadd's Ford'. A sorry spike on a sorry plant in my sorry bog. It's been very dry most of the season, and it shows here. But it's September, and those are orchid blooms, so although I've been better, I'm good until next month!

October, Gongora galeata. Ok, so I waited a bit this month......I was hoping something else would be in bloom, but it isn't. This is the same plant I did a thread on a while back, repotted:

Oh man this month is really coming down to the wire! I have one plant, with one bud that looks like it's ready to pop. I just don't know if it's going to pop in the next 3 days.......
