I thought this would never happen - my Neofinetia falcata is spiking. I think there are two more spikes barely visible.
Then there is the Dpts. I had to have, after Bud posted pictures of his. It has two spikes.
Wils. Spacemine 'Red Rendevous' bought in bloom in March, has 2 spikes.
In May I bought Milt. Andrea West 'HOF' HCC/AOS in bloom. The flowers were almost spent and now there are two spikes. One spike was stuck in the leaf and I had to free it.
Oh, I forgot my Haraella odorata, 2 spikes.
Psychopsis Mendenhall 'Hildos' and Paph. Pinocchio (a.k.a. Energizer Bunnies) are still going strong.
I am over the moon, but puzzled over the "outbreak" of spikes, especially the Neo. I changed nothing, same water, same location, same fertilizer. No matter, I am doing the happy dance!
On Thursday I had the sudden urge to go to Walmart. Odd! I headed straight for the corner with the house plants, grabbed her and left without buying anything else. Got home and repotted right away. The roots were, surprisingly enough, in good shape. There was printing on the pot she was in, a series of numbers and Elegance Deborah.
The color in the picture is the true color.
Sorry for the long post, but I'm so exited about my spikes.

Wow it looks like a lot of healthy plants! Good growing and looks like you have a nice grow area. Where did you get that Dpts Tzu?

Congrats! For me, there is nothing more exciting and rewarding than seeing all your work rewarded with signs of a spike!

The Dpts. Tzu came, in bloom, from Orchids.com. otherwise known as Norman's. He doesn't have the best reputation and the shipping cost is outrages. I also bought a Paph. fairrieanum from him, couldn't find either plant anywhere else. Both plants sat, doing nothing, for over 1 year. Now the Dtps. is spiking and the Paph. is growing a new fan.
Thank you for the compliment! My grow area is very simple - a metal rack, by the west window. Nothing additional, my poor orchids have to make do.

Thanks! So you are happy with your order from orchids. com? I have seen a few on my wish list there, but have read so many negative reviews on them with customer service if you get a bad plant.

Thanks, Paul Mc! Now that I have all those spikes, I can start worrying about bud blast.

LovePhals, I am happy with my purchases, now that I'm seeing progress after 1 year+ I was not happy when I got the plants. I repot everything as soon as it gets into the house, although he says not to repot for 30 days, it would kill the plant. With both plants, the roots left a lot to be desired. I thought about calling the vendor, but dreaded the hassle and let it go. The plants did not grow, just sat there until now.
I would not order from him again, unless it was something I absolutely had to have and could not find it anywhere else.
