My deperle looks like a big mess . It had spider mites when I got it and was badly in need of repot and some water. The plant had no shine and the leaves were almost faded to white.
..I rescued this one for 5 dollars. Small Orchid shop was going out of business due to an illness, the children did not wish to continue in the orchid business. How many times have you heard that story lately?

I cut the middle old bloomer out bec it was choking off the new growths. Was pretty much done anyway after soaking the leaves of all the translocatable nutrients..Its okey to cut them off, sad as it seems, when they have done there job.

The plant grew out of 3 sides of the 1st plant. You have to be careful when you cut the old plant out so as not disturb the new ones perch. If its growing up and out the side of the old one, you just have to wait for the new one to start some roots of its own ..When these plants die off I notice they do leave behind the old root system from my limited observation. I Dont be worried with an old plant if theres lot of loose roots in the pot...Its just moving on is all IMO

The deperle is my next "buddy" its ready I know it is! I can feel "little peas" in the stalk..The buds feel like little peas its a baby bud is what it is!!!

Hey,
You think I can rub all them plants together and be a hybridizer?

and please let me know If Im mistaken about the root systems like I say limited observation

It looks like you did a great rescue job of your deperle. Not sure what time of the year they bloom. Maybe mine has little peas too! I will have to check that out!
