I am an apartment/windowsill grower and I envy your orchids attached to trees and thriving with very little human intervention...
you dont have frost and bitter winters...the humidity in your atmosphere makes your plant with very little watering...this time of year the monsoon rains are upon you...you dont even have to water them

Mabuhay!

Hi bud! Thanks for the compliments.

But the true picture is that i still put quite an effort to be able to grow them outside. But i don't complain.

Summertime :
I have to wake up very early in the morning to water them almost always everyday. And sometimes, when my work takes me to places where i have to spend a number of days that's a dilemma. I have orchids that may not be sensitive even if it comes face to face with the sun as long as they are being watered everyday. And watering everyday is an increase in water bill. I have lost a great number of orchids 3 summer's ago. The sunshine is different nowadays.

Trees
I have to cut back some of the branches of my trees that's shading some orchids that needs sunlight including my soil-based plants. Its also an effort because some of my trees are very tall already and its quite scary to go up there from time to time.

Wet Season
Very scary since a lot of things grow when they're wet. But nowadays, i apply most of my ferts after a heavy rainfall in the evening. as much as possible i don't apply pesticides/fungicides since i have kids around the house. But i love the wet season minus the floods. And sometimes the rainy seasons coincides with super typhoons so i know you get the picture.

Did I mention since its mostly fruit trees where my orchids are attached, sometimes the fruits falls on my orchids flat or sometimes when someone is ask to go up (this happens when i'm not around) there to get the fruits they think my orchids are ladders. sometimes my trees loves to put out some sap which my orchids sometimes catches. hehehee

Currently, i am trying to achieve a natural garden where natural predators of pests will be able to mingle in the garden. All in all, its hard work but you get to at least experience and appreciate how nature really works. Of course, nothing beats the real Mother Nature.

thank you all for the compliments and suggestions/advises.

Anyway, i am blessed with a new acquisition and i hope it is the real deal. Just went to a place where i bought, which I think is a Micropera philippinensis, i am awaiting for someone's confirmation regarding it. Its only 100 petot for 2 stalks or roughly $2.
