My lil’ outdoor orchid shade shack (near Santa Cruz, CA) has it’s first bloomer—

Paph. henryanum ('Super Jumbo' AM/AOS x fma. album ‘Albino Beauty')

In all transparency, this adorable dwarf Paph came to me in spike (but I have high hopes for my small outdoor shade shake that has a custom poly cover and heater for the winter months)

I knew henryanum is a small species—but this guy is TINY; 7” leafspan. One of the pics show him next to a $10 bill for reference. I’ve really fallen head-over-heels for this teeny tiny Paph…!

That one is absolutely cute! And unless you get a freeezing night, it should be quite happy outdoors... it is a relatively high-elevation species.

Yeah, that was the original plan, that henryanum is cold tolerant.

BUT I have since upgraded the “shack” with a custom snug fitting thick poly cover (fits like an envelope via Velcro) and a small fan heater. Plan on winter low temps of 55F-58F. Granted it’s still summer-like weather here in Cali, but in my testing I was able to elevate the temp inside the shack by 20 degrees (58F to 78F) within 8 minutes, with the heater on low, so I think my winter temp goals are very obtainable. The only opening in the poly shack cover is at the base of the back, right next to the back of the fan heater so it can draw in fresh air as it heats and circulates.

(BTW, Roberta, went with the Aluminet and it’s everything you said—great! Much cooler and great light diffusion and refraction compared to the black).
