Default Laelia lundii

This is a first bloom from a plant I acquired from Hauserman's last October. Three days in and the lip hasn't opened fully. I expected a less than perfect bloom, so I'm not disappointed.

The flower is 1¼ inches across.

It’s beautiful nonetheless!

Why did you expect a less than perfect bloom if you don’t mind my asking?

It is my understanding that as a plant ages and gets stronger, the blooms will look better. I'm sure one of the other growers here can explain it better than I.

I can only detect mine, in most occasions, by putting my nose near the flowers. It gets more intense when the plant is under full sun.

Stuck my nose in the flower this morning and got a whiff of perfume. Not strong, but definitely there.

If you put the plant under the winter sun you'll notice it in the plant's vicinity.
