Happy sap galore!

I think I finally defeated my thrip infestation, seeing a lot more happy sap.

Defeating thrips is a feat worthy of a medal!
How long has it been since you've seen one?

Thank you, it has taken me 1.5 years. I haven't seen a thrip or thrip damage for over 2 weeks.

I just went through my notes. 25 plants treated in 2022 already.
According to my notes one plant needed 6 repeat treatments and one was free for 3 whole months after which they came back again.
I know I should get better poison, and I did tell myself I was going to but I keep telling myself that was the last of them.

One other time I thought I had them beat and they came back, so I am not 100% confident. That being said I can spot/differentiate early thrip damage like a pro now and I feel good about what I am seeing on newly open flowers.

I did 10 treatments, 3 days apart, alternating Conserve (spinosad) and pyrethrin. I also did an imidaclopird drench on the soil. I removed all open flowers at the start of treatment. I defoliated all catasetinae and lycaste first because thrips survive on their leaves.

Wow you really went full throttle on them, but from what I've read thats what it takes.
Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for checking on this, I would have forgotten to follow up. The bloom was fantastic, but I forgot to get a picture. Luckily round two opened (the spike emerging in the BG in the original pic) yesterday, here is a pic I just took

Also, still no thrips!! It has been incredible enjoying thrip free blooms this month
