I water it by filling the saucer it sits in, and it usually soaks everything up within a day. In the summer I leave the saucer empty no more than 2-3 days, in the winter I let the bulbs start to show a few faint wrinkles before watering again. Soaking or otherwise moving it to water it in a more normal fashion is now out of the question seeing the size of the plant. Once it a while I give it a good flushing, which is easier to do when it's outdoors in the summer.

I have given up on repotting it, I don't see much medium left in the pot and it's a solid mass of roots. I don't dare chuck it into a larger pot with some leca because the plant then responds by growing even wider... Keeping it pot bound seems to encourage a bit more vertical growth rather than horizontal.

Your Psychopsis is AWESOME! Love the simultaneous blooms!

You're killing us with your abundance of blooms lately, Camille. First, the flower-covered podangis, and then the prolific psychopsis. Nice job!

Any idea on the maximum/minimum temps for Max.tenufolia? Not optimum, but max/min? I lost mine last year, and pretty sure it was that I got outside its temperature range for too long. Possibly combined with not enough humidity at times...

I got a small piece of Maxillaria tenuifolia from our club. It was outside all winter and up until about a week ago. In morning shade and dappled afternoon sun it was undamaged by overnight winter temperatures just above freezing, and summer daytime temperatures in the 112 F / 44C range. It likes water. I may have to repot it if I leave it outside to something that stays waterlogged longer.

Oh, and humidity down to 3% with those hot temperatures was no problem. Water water water.
