Default Some recent blooms

I had a much needed day off today, and decided to do a photo shoot for some of my flowering orchids. I put it off a bit too long, and some were past their peak and it was too late for photos.

My first and only (until last fall) Catt is in bloom now. Some type of C. aclandiae hybrid that I got at a garden center years ago. It has a wonderful spicy fragrance.

Phalaenopsis Chiada Francis "Picotee" put out 2 spikes and it makes for a nice show!

My Maxillaria tenuifolia is in bloom, and every year it gets more and more difficult to take photos due to the increasing size of the plant. The coconut scent really fills the room.

I love them!

I love the burst of color on the catt! Is it the plant your avatar picture?

I love the star-shaped flowers on the phal...

and I'm jealous of the tenuifolia too, mine has been sulking after a period of neglect + really hard water. hehe

Thanks for the nice comments! I was bitten by the photography bug not long after (and also due to) getting the orchid virus. I started with a point and shoot, then a DSLR, and have been accumulating equipment since. Basically, one already expensive hobby spawned an even more expensive hobby! On the bright side, photography gear doesn't have the nasty tendency of dying like plants do, unless I happen to drop something onto a hard unforgiving surface...
