Absolutely a delight to see those blooms. That orange beauty trick or treat is a real beauty. I saw some other different cultivar trick or treat in a photo (in a book) that had some sort of rolled-up pointy lip, which was still nice - but the lip didn't seem to get there with the flattening out ----- ie. still rolled up.

That's IT!! I should have posted a picture of this sucker a few years ago! It's Potinara Burana Beauty. The minute I saw Potinara (what a weird name) along with Burana Beauty! I kept thinking Blc and it threw me off. I'll stick a name back on it, and we'll see how long it lasts (the label, not the plant).

I emailed Fred and asked him if my order was not packed and shipped yet, if he could add that Trick or Treat 'Orange Beauty' to my order. He said that he wasn't sure if my order had gone out, but he would check, and if it has not, he will add that to my order. I haven't heard back from yet, but that was just yesterday, so there's still time. If he cannot add it to my current order, then I guess I'll just have to place a second order lol.

Fred got back to me, and he doesn't have any divisions left of LC Trick or Treat 'Orange Beauty', but he has some seedlings from a sib cross. And not only that, but he's going to throw in one of those as a free gift! I love SVO for their spectacular plants, as well as their amazing customer care. |

Nice plants Witchin,
I've had the Blc Toshie's Magic on my wishlist for a while but your Blc Burana Beauty is just as nice.
I think I've been put off by the temperatures it requires - I live in a cool climate.
Do you know what the minimum temp you would not let your burana beauty go below?
Same question for the Cattlianthe trick or treat as I am pretty sure I have put that on my - too warm to grow at mine - list before..

I've had the Burana Beauty for years, and it gets treated like everything else I grow for the most part. My notes say overall, nights 55F to 65F, daytime no higher than around 90F. When it pushes new growth and leaves start to open, around 65F day 60F nights for a few weeks, water less, and it assists in the bloom.
In my climate, the temps in peak of summer go occasionally to 100F and lows of mid seventies. It does fine. Overall about the same as recommended because I grow outside half the year, and in the basement the rest of year, which is where those low temps come in handy. Needs very good drainage.
I have no notes for the Trick or Treat, but it always sits on the same shelf as the Burana Beauty. I think you could grow either.

I have found the plant I am going to buy, it is something in betweeen the two I mentioned called a
Cattleya barefoot mailman - It has the same parent as the buranan beauty, the Laelia briegeri.
The name is also quite fitting even though I doubt it will be delivered by a barefooted mailman, he usually wears shoes |
