Default Harella retrocalla in bloom

Another one I seem to have forgotten to post pictures of (taken earlier this month).

I bought this late last year and the bud it had then started to open the side petals but never uncurled the lip before blasting.

I realised I wasn't keeping it humid enough because the leaves were also wrinkling and had stopped growing. I corrected that and was really excited to see a spike developing a few months back.

The flower has now dropped, and I think the spike is drying up (not sure if these sometimes grow sequential flowers on a spike or not) but a second spike appears to be growing

That's great growing, Rosie! Acquired mine in January. It hasn't rebloomed yet but is growing lots of roots and the newest leaf is quite a bit larger than the others. Mine is in sphagnum in a wood basket, growing outdoors under shadecloth. When we have continuous rain I move it under shelter to keep the sphag from becoming soggy.

Rosie,
Mine just dropped its flower, and it appears that the same spike will produce again. I'll let you all know how that turns out. I'm hopeful!

I think the flower was dropped because it got too dry (I was away, and the neighbor's teenager was watering....)

Mine might be the same thing. I was away, and it was hot. I had put it in a very shady spot and the bottom of the mount was in water, and it didn't look too dry when I got back, but at the same time it hadn't had water poured over it every day like it usually does. Maybe that's why my spike is also drying up. But a new one coming
