I wouldn't say that too, Steve. Everything else done, the main climate conditions are more or less the same. In my opinion, we can credit those variations on the ecotypes, or sub-races inside the species. The purpuratas from São Paulo, besides taller than their sisters from the south, are also more lavender, have larger flowers, are poorer as to the shape and show almost no variations (no albas, no semialbas, etc). Something similar occurs with Cattleya intermedia from the south and those found here (BTW, I live in São Paulo).

How I would love to stroll into your greenhouse and see this fine spectacle for myself. I can just imagine the vivid beauty and marvolous fragrances.

I hate to admit this on a public forum but I do believe I lust after your collection!

Debs, after all these years growing orchids (25), when I get in my grh I still feel like the very first days when I went visiting older growers that owned larger collections. I got mesmerized by the flowers, the colors, the shapes, the different perfumes... So, don't worry, I know exactly what you feel! ! We love orchids! We can’t look at a bunch of them and keep indifferent!
