First bloom of my reed-stem Male
Default First bloom of my reed-stem

I picked this little Epi radicans up at the Ford-Edison museum store last summer. It thrives in full sun here during fall, winter and spring. In the summer it gets full sun till around 2:30pm. This is the first blooms for me. I've got my eye on a solid lavender flowered one that I hope to pick up in a few weeks.
Best,
Tony

Awesome flowers. That is a large specimen. The same color blooms I have on my Epidendrum radicans thread. Our flower form are different by comparing the color and shape of the leaves; my plant and spike is almost a meter long ...yours is shorter than 2 feet...but one quick glance at the flowers it looks like twins !

Thanks Bud. I think the size difference can be attributed to the fact that I'm growing it in FL in mostly full sun, and you're in NYC. I checked yours out and its a beauty as well. I really like the reed stems, and hope I can come up with that lavender one. I'll post if I do.
Best,
Tony

The reed stems really seem to vary quite a bit.I love the colour and form of your's. I have 2 in s/h, one is orange ball and the other is called Joseph's glow. They sure can bloom a long time!
