I am so looking forward to meeting other orchid addicts! I have already met a few in the last orchid show; and they are more crazy than I am!
The orchid society here imports a lot of their own orchids... so I am ready !
I don't really have that many orchid kids Last count: 9 phals, 12 cats and 10 dens...
Not enough!!!!
Do try drawing or painting orchids! It just makes you appreciate them even more!

Nice selection Candice! I like schilleriana and it's many crosses. Just haven't acquired one yet. I've been working on diversifying my collection. I have 6 in the catt collection, 7 phals, 2 ocdm, 1 milt, 1 epi & 4 dendros. A little catt an phal heavy but I'm working on an eclectic collection. Those prices are great too. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Big Leaf. It just seems while I'm browsing the website the plants that take my breath away in their beauty also take my breath away in price. LOL Guess my mother was right. I have champagne taste on a beer budget! I think the most I have ever paid for an orchid (not including shipping) was $45.

I should join our local society. Unfortunately it meets on the same day and time as my quilt group. Quilting is my other love. I can't draw to save my life, but I could applique a decent representation of an orchid with needle & thread.

Candice, we will hold the home front for you while you are away.

As for the orchid problem and the 12 steps? bankruptcy is about the only known "cure" but even then, some patients relapse by starting out small with other less time consuming and less costly "house plants".

It is the notion that these harmless "house plants are not orchids so everything is fine" that leads the orchidoholic back to rehab or eventually back into ochidomania.

Orchidomania is the final stage of orchidoholism. Symptoms include financial distress and very little room for anything else in one's domicile than orchids and their related supplies. Those less afflicted have managed to manifest their uncontrolable urges into building separate climatically controlled housing for their disease.

I hope this helps. Good luck and God speed.

So Candice, did they come yet? Huh? Huh? Please! I get intense vicarious enjoyment in seeing other peoples orchid purchases.

I have to be good for a little while and not buy anything new. At the end of next week we're headed to Hawaii for 2 weeks (Big Island 1st week, Oahu 2nd week). I'll make time to stop at Atkasuka Orchids on the BI again and will have to research where there are orchid greenhouses on Oahu. I suspect Carmela's Orchids is on Oahu but I'm not sure. That would be a really fun place to visit.
