It is (Phalaenopsis Hymen x Phalaenopsis fasciata)

The parentage of Phalaenopsis Hymen is
(Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana x Phalaenopsis mannii)

is it a primary hybrid? these kind of species looking phals or phal species in general are in my opinion so much better and more interesting looking than those large white ones...

I wouldn't have passed it up either! It's fantastic! And it's a mom with 3 babies! Nice find!

I'm a little surprised it doesn't have pulchra in its background with that lip, but then again I've seen some fasciatas with really purple lips. The other parent must have enhanced it.

Again, great find! Somehow I need to find more space so I can go out looking for beauties like this! (And get another orchid fund saved up, since I spent mine for this year and then some! Ooooh, and figure out how to get my parents to let me in the house if my bring more orchids home, and find someone to care for them over the holidays, since I don't want to bring 40 plants home with me over Christmas break and I can't leave them alone in my dorm that long. Ok, I may have a few things to figure out here. Thinking is depressing! )

I agree, great find Sue! It's so so cute! I love the primary hybrids. Sadly there were no orchids like that at the show I went to this weekend.

If it makes you feel better, I have the same problem. I have nearly a month off for the holidays (as opposed to the usual 2 weeks) and there is no way for the orchids to take care of themselves that long in my dorm. And I can't bring 40 orchids in the airplane with me.... I'm worrying already! As for the parents letting me in the house, my mom likes orchids now (and takes care of 12 of mine). Before, when I would get new orchids, her reaction was "don't you have enough??". But when I told her on Saturday that I got 6 more at a show, she said "Ooooo, what did you get? Send photos!"

I agree. I'm really falling in love with Phal species, primary hybrids, and near primaries. I think I've picked up 4 or 5 in the past two months.
