Default Epidendrum noid

There's probably some Hokulea and maybe Joseph Lii in this Epi. Or maybe it's one or the other. It is also the easiest to grow that I've encountered.

Hi Doc, is the colour true in your thread? I recently bought one labelled "Epi morning star" but my colour is slightly lighter. Mine even has the fork in the 'tail' on the labellum. My flowers are 1 1/2"x 2" (40mm x 50mm)

Baz,

I think the colors are most true in the close-up of the flower. When they first opened, each flower was a little darker, closer to red. By day 2 they had lightened to a light orange color.

I would be interested in seeing what "morningstar" looks like if you could post a picture.

No can do with a picture Doc. I have proved digital cameras don't like rough treatment. As a result, my camera and my computer aren't 'talking'.
If you can imagine the common old orange coloured reed stem Epi (radicans?) on steroids, that's what 'morning star' looks like.
