Mokara Meda Arnold

Beautiful bright pink. Usually with 2 spikes, this is the second bloom this year, the first in April/May 2008

I didn't find Mokara Meda Arnold in the RHS registry but I did find
Ascocenda Meda Arnold = Ascocentrum curvifolium X Vanda Rothschildiana

and the only one I found was a cultivar that produces 'Red Scarlet' flowers - Ascda. Meda Arnold 'Red Scarlet': Orchids By Hausermann

Perhaps there is a Mokara Meda Arnold

Dorothy - I thought it was too big to be an ascocenda, as the plant is about 16-17" tall, flowering spike is 15" and flowers are a good 2 1/3" across. I went to the G/H and checked the original tag in the bottom of the basket and it says: MOKARA (SAYAN X ASCDA MEDA ARNOLD). I bought at the Tallahassee Show about 2 1/2 years ago from a vendor that carries only Vandaeous Family orchids. It does bloom twice a year with 2 spikes and I think a beautiful pink....(better in person than my photo)
So now you have the whole story as I know it. Thanks for you help.

FYI, there are tons of crosses never registered, yet sold and labelled correctly.

Ross - I agree but it's so confusing at times. I'm not hung up on names but it's nice to identify what you have and necessary if you are showing your orchids for judging. And Dorothy you sure know how to pull out the info. Thanks for all you do for the OB members.

Don, I have one (for instance) that I know is a known cross (Brassia Doris Bergstrom) and know the parentage (Brassia longlan X Brassia Walter Birch) each of which (I believe) is a registered hybrid. Nobody has registered this cross, yet I know the parentage.
