Default Displaying orchids in bloom

Having worked hard to give the plants ideal and individualized growing environments, now you have a blossom. Can you safely bring the plant into the living parts of the house? For how long? Do you need rest periods away and back in its controlled environment?
I would hate no one other than me to see these beauties.

I bring in the bloomers on a regular basis from the GH (not ttached to the home) during the winter months for the very reason you have stated....nobody gets to see them but me, since I'm just about the only one to go out into the GH, especially in the dead of winter. I grow mostly phals so Dec to Feb is my season and in Michigan it's COLD but there has never been a problem and they last just as long

Like Doc says, there is no reason to not enjoy the blossoms when you can. Won't hurt the plant at all (in most cases.)

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

I usually bring ALL blooming orchids in the house for my wife and any company we might have to enjoy the blooms. I have at least 6 blooming orchids every single month of the year. That's why I grow orchids, for the blooms!

If I can summarize: it's OK to bring orchids into living area while blooming and generally not a problem. I try to put it back near (lower light situation) to its home when we will be out a weekend or even during week. Our unit is very dark except at the wonderful east windows.

Allow the orchids to acclimate to higher light slowly if you place them in lower light when you bring them indoors .. you can burn the leaves if you do it too quickly ...

That's awesome! I'm just to the point where I have at least one in bloom at all times for about a year. Six per month sounds like heaven! Nice job Don.

Get enough orchids in enough genera and you can do same thing. I also have at least six plants in bloom, but lots of mine are in my orchidarium

I leave mine where they're at when they bloom. All my friends always make a trip through the greenhouse anyway....usually asking," All right, what'd you get this week?" They usually have to go around back to find me anyway!
