Some new...some updates
I got my newest order from Andy's today...once again, they've outdone themselves! I got Masdevallia zahlbruckneri and Schoenorchis fragrans. I can't believe how tiny the Schoen is!!!
While out today, I stopped at a greenhouse, they've got mostly Phals, lots of NOIDS...I picked up two really cheap! NOID, but so pretty, with more buds to open!
I've also added a few pics of growth on existing plants.
The Dinema is one I got from Rob (Littlefrog) and it looks fantasic...2 new growths and I think I see a spike!!!

You can call Andy's and ask if they have one like that available...or when they have one ready for mounting
maybe they can send it to you before they do it.

I've called them before and they've said they don't sell mounted specimens unmounted. The suggested I carefully unmount it myself. I'd rather not.

It's nothing to be afraid of...I've taken very well-mounted plants out of baskets by soaking for 30 mins or so and then carefully moving the roots off the wood.
My husband takes the 4 corner pegs out of the basket and as I remove the roots, each layer of wood is removable...like that game Jenga
I also had a 'chid (label says Visea Phal, which means nothing to me) that was mounted on a stick. I bought it in bloom and after the blooms died off, it just stayed stagnant. No growth, no anything!
I decided that I'd experiment because it was basically a healthy plant, just not very happy
I soaked it well, removed the roots from the stick and mounted it at the top of my first driftwood project...it's very happy now! New growths and roots. Haven't had it rebloom yet but I'm sure it will
If you really want one of these plants don't let the "mounted-only" availability stop you

That little mount project of yours is too cute. I love it!
THanks for the help cuase I had no idea how to rip the roots off the wood without, well ripping them. And if your suggestion don't work, I'm coming after you Just kidding

Seems like if you pick a time when there is new root growth, "ripping off" the old roots doesn't matter. I've remounted Encyclia when you'd think it would be a disaster and the plants did really well. I think timing is the answer.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)
