Talking Cali Orchid Bus Trip!

I hemmed and hawed on whether to put this here, or in the general orchid talk... but it is more of an advertisement, so I chose here.

What:
A bus trip to 3 orchid growers! Walk through greenhouses packed with orchids (and other stuff too) and buy to your little heart's content!
We will visit:
Valley Orchids
South Pacific Orchids
Rocket Farms Edit: Due to a conflict in schedule, we will be visiting Maplethorpe Orchids instead of Rocket Farms.
Enjoy the company of other orchid fanatics on the bus, shop for great orchids at several large growers! What more could an orchid lover ask for?
The cost for the bus trip is $26.00

When:
Sunday May 17, 2009
The bus will leave from Modesto, CA at 7:30 am SHARP!
This is an all day affair, we should be back around dinner time.

Where:
We will leave from the Stanislaus Union School at 1931 Kiernan Ave. Modesto, CA.

Other "Stuff"
-Seats do need to be reserved and paid for ahead of time. The cost of the trip is $26.00 and there are currently 12 seats still available.

-Checks can be mailed to:
The Tropical Plant Society of Modesto
1348 Kiernan Ave.
Modesto, CA 95356
Make checks payable to TPS of Modesto
-Bring a lunch, we will eat on the bus. Stopping for lunch takes away from precious orchid shopping time!
-It's also advisable to bring an open top cardboard box with your name on it for your purchases. They will be stowed in the cargo compartment under the bus.

I haven't been on this trip before, but I'm told previous trips have been a blast, and that there was even wine to sample on the bus! It would sure be fun to meet other orchid board members if anyone in the area are interested. I am going on the trip

I just wanted to post a little update. There are still some seats available on the bus if you're interested! It should be a great time.

Also, there is a slight change in the itinerary. Due to a scheduling conflict, we won't be visiting Rocket Farms. Instead, we will be going to Maplethorpe Orchids.

It would take about 4-5 hours to get to Modesto from Santa Clarita. You're just North of LA right? You could put your address into mapquest and see how long it estimated the trip to be.

I'd go, but I'm on the other side of the country!

...

Maybe we should plan a trip, too.

No kidding With my impulsive 'chid shopping habits, it would be a shame if the lil guys ended up with claustrophobia from being packed in so tight!

You should plan a trip! I'm brand new to my orchid society, but this is a trip that was started a several years ago and is now an annual thing. Apparently it has gained a reputation for being fun, as neighboring orchid society members start asking about it when this time of the year rolls around
