Default Great deals at the Redlands Show!

I had a great time at the show but it was too hot (98-99). I went on Sunday afternoon so I was able to get a few bargains.
At the Keiki Pro booth - I got some Keiki Pro and I met "Gans"
Carter & Holmes - one phal Violacea coerulea
"Out on a Limb Orchids" - one Psychopsis Kalihi and one Vuyl 'Robin Pitman - Everglades'
Martin Motes - one aerides odorata, one ascada Muantong V Pimchai Beauty, one v (Rasri Gold x Darres Golden Heritage) x v sanderiana, and two neofinetia falcata (only $10 for a blooming plant with a second plant in the basket, too)
I also got 2 pretty pots (one for the psycopsis and one for my project sedirea japonica)
Plus 2 books: Florida Orchid Growing by Motes and An Intro to Orchids from S Fla Orchid Society.

What a great day!!!

Well here are pics of my new chids!

A Neof for $10.00, what a good buy, and it looks like it may be yellow also.

Congratulation on your wonderful purchases. Good selection.

I really like your tall pot. I have a difficult finding tall potss.

I remember how hot it was the day I went two years ago...but somehow managed to look at every single thing there! Isn't it just an amazing place to be?

You got some great plants and I love the pots you picked up. Did you get to speak with Dr Motes at all? He's a really nice man

Thanks everyone! I really did well. Like I always say "go late on Sunday for the good deals".

Sue, I went by the Motes booth on the way out (they are by the entrance/exit at every show). I always count on getting something special from him, plus a couple bare canes/bargains. Mary had gotten rid of a lot already but I saw the Neos and she said "Oh Marty will let you have the blooming one since it is so late" in here really cute British accent! So they let me have it for $10, with flowers, and there is actually 2 plants in the pot! The odorata was $15. The 2 loose ones .... I got both for $5 (no kidding).

The psychopsis was a big one It was only $18 because it was their last one (Out on a Limb). It had a split leaf, but I was able to repair it a bit with tape (I do that on all my big leaved plants). Plus it has a secondary growth/spike coming up from the roots about 3" tall!

The pots are fired so they are nicer than regular clay pots, with lots of holes and very heavy. $10 each.

I saw a beautiful phal violacea at Wu (I think) for $120, but I had to say no to that. Later I found a small one in very nice shape at Carter and Holmes for $10.

I got Motes newest Orchid growing book, too.

I met Gans at keiki pro!

So, it is well worth it to wait until the end of the show!

Lorraine, I got that book at the show ($15). You can just call him, he will mail it. I'll send you his number later.
