Non-orchid cloud forest plants?
Default Non-orchid cloud forest plants?

I'm planning a cloud forest tank, and I'd like to include some non-orchids as well.

What interesting stuff is obligate cold-growing?

I'm aware there are highland nepenthes, but I don't find them that interesting.

Tropical blueberries, ericaceous epiphytes found in several genera, including Cavendishia and Ceratostema.

Yeah, those are some awesome plants! I'm having huge trouble sourcing them unfortunately. There is almost nothing in terms of exotic plant vendors here in Canada, and most places won't ship internationally.

Perhaps ferns, moss, and bromeliads? Ecuagenera sells plants other than orchids. They sell quite a few cloud forest orchids so I am assuming some of their plants will be, also. They have two nurseries, one in higher elevations and one in lower elevations, from what I understand. Here is their site:

http://www.ecuagenera.com/

They come to Canada for shows and then will mail the plants to you when they are in the country. I copied and pasted the information for the next Canadian show: As you can see, the deadline for ordering is in early September.

CANADA
Octubre 20-21, 2018
Windsor Orchid Society Show and Sale
Address: Windsor
Deadline for Orders: Septiembre 06, 2018

They do answer emails but it might take some time as they are very busy. I have done group orders with other members of my Orchid Society and also bought from them when they come to Ohio (a show about two hours away). One thing to remember is many of their plants must be brought into the country bare-root so it is good to have everything on hand and ready to baby the plants when they arrive.
