My baby daughter's boyfriend
This post is utterly off topic, but I think is worth posting.
My daughter, Anna, has been seeing a fine young man for a bit over a year now. About 6 months ago, he accepted a job in Chicago. Anna had a job where they lived, in DC, and didn't know what to do. As it should have, her heart won and she moved. Admittedly, I was her biggest co-conspirator; I like this man.
So last week was Anna's 24th birthday. Her favorite animal in the world is a sloth. I have no idea how Joe did this, but he managed to obtain a live sloth to spend all day Sunday with Anna! Huh? Where and how does a person in Chicago find a sloth to borrow for a day? As you can imagine, Anna was overwhelmed with happiness by this gesture. This is a man who goes to great lengths to make my daughter happy; this is a man who has also won her father.

Funny! Joe has a LOT more hair, though our beards are similar. Except mine is white.

I'm amazed. No ring, but I think Anna was OK.
And he just did more. I grew up (well, was in college) on the original Star Wars movies. I love them. So I got home today to find a package from Joe. In it I found a photo of Darth Vader and Princess Leia AUTOGRAPHED by James Earl Jones.

Last time I did, Anna used a word I can't use here in telling me to shut up. Thus, mentions of rings are now only hers to make.  It'll happen when it happens, and I feel sure it will. How could any man resist MY daughter? |
