Just wanted to let you know how I water frequently high humidity orchids such as stanhopeas and paphs without drowning the roots.
This works better in low humidity conditions.

After watering and let the excess of water drain through the bottom of the pot just put a piece of kitchen paper tissue, more or less thick, under the pot.
It will absorb the remaining water and, as it dries out in contact with the dry air, it will absorb even more water until it's dry.
In the process, and because the paper gets wet, it will release humidity in the vicinity of the plant.

Just another technique that works under my conditions.

And you get a little evaporative cooling as well.

This is most effective with low HR, the lower the more effective it will be.
It might not be very aesthetic but works in my conditions. I have difficulties growing Oncidiums and Zigos (they grow but not vigorously) 'cause in summer their leaves start to curl due to the dry air. Water trays are not enough (I don't know if they do anything, really) so this is an additional help.
