My Luv got a big bonus at work....so I was able to indulge in my addiction. I went to my go to orchid store Island Orchids in Colorado Springs. Lo and behold they had a Psychopsis Mendenhall 'Hildos' for $44.00 and the best part.......it was in spike! This orchid has been on my wish list for a very very long time. Afterwards, I go over to the discount area and find a Coelogyne Jannine Banks 'Snow White' for $5 which I have to have as well. So I take both up to the register and she tells me that she has another Psychopsis that has two spikes but it's $56.00. I refused it and tell her my bf would disown me lol if he knew I went for the most expensive orchid. So I go to the register to pay for my $44 Psychopsis and $5 Coelogyne and then she says that she will give me the Coelogyne for free. Ooooo the ladies that work at this orchid shop are the most lovely ladies ever ❤️ We talked about orchids after that and I learned that she has had a Psychopsis for over 15 years and it had 17 ( I think it was that many or close) spikes and they all flowered at about the same time or at one time all of them had bloomed. She showed me a picture and it magnificent. She had taken it to the Denver Orchid Society show and sale.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1434777606.498781.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1434777616.952311.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1434777624.785642.jpg

Sad morning..kinda....bro-in-law stayed over last night and he is one of those angry drunks, young kid who still hasn't gotten his party wiggles out. Well after a night out with his brother, my Luv, they came back and somehow, the pyschopsis fell to the floor and came out of its pot. There was also a tear in the PS that has the growing spike I can try to make this into good situation and be happy that the spike hasn't broken. I had to do an emergent repot, so I decided on small lava rock with a top dressing of sphagnum. The roots looked great and I found a small growth as well. I work the night shift so I wasn't able to keep an eye on it. My sweetie said if anything was wrong with it, he would go get the more expensive one himself! Lol I won't make him do that. I think it should be fine, so updates to follow

Well it looks like the spike is still growing, whew that was a close one . The spike was definitely bent up and you can see the little flap that covers the last node has broken off and is sticking to the growing part of the spike. Tough little orchid. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1435789964.907069.jpg
