Know what I wish?
I wish that it was mandatory for orchid pictures to come with 2 pics. One good one of the flower and one including the whole flower, plant and maybe how it's growing as well....
I think when I earn my first bloom on my own, I will always do several pictures....
Does anyone else want to enjoy the whole plant??
K
Off to my second orchid meeting. Very excited hehe...

I agree. Have fun at your meeting.
One of my friends at work saw me looking at orchids, and he asked about them a little, and then said that everyone he knew would buy one in flower, and then just throw it away afterwards, because they didn't want to even bother with keeping it alive if it was just foliage.

I totally agree. Especially vendors, this should be a standard for online vendors.
Scott, there is an orchid site, www.orchid.org, that rescues orchids such as you mention. They take donations from vendors, etc., but also take in the orchids that people buy just for the flowers, or all of those orchid gifts out there that never get taken care of. They nurse them back to health and then sell them to raise funds for non-profit grass-roots AIDS/HIV organizations, such as the one I work for. Although they don't give us any money, YET. It's in CA, but I bet the concept would work elsewhere.

I have to agree with you Tik, its an advantage to us orchid lovers to see the whole picture. I have to admit, I take pictures of the flower as well as the plant itself, especially helpful when the plant is bought, ad I don't always remember what it looks like later up the road.

Agreed Tik! I'm always looking for the size of the plant, how it grows, and what it looks like. What good is a great looking flower if you end up with an orchid thats tooo big for your home?

I have that growing problem as well. Most of my plants are teeny sanderianum hybrids and roth hybrids.
