Default KelpMax - New Sizes Available

About two years ago, we got our first samples of KelpMax, and were so impressed that we ordered a bunch in and started selling quarts. I can hardly keep them on the shelves here, they sell so well.

Then a few people asked about buying larger sizes to save money, so we worked that out.

However, there are some who have small collections, or are on a tight budget, or are simply too skeptical to buy a quart bottle, so we have downsized, as well.

KelpMax is now available in 8-ounce, & 32-ounce bottles, plus 1-gallon and 2.5-gallon jugs.

Eight ounces sounds perfect for me!
I'll be ordering as soon as my current bottle runs out.

My collection is indeed small.

Hi @Ron ☺ My name is Summer. I am a new phal gal and I'm so excited to have been led to your kelpmax! I received a phalaenopsis orchid from my grandmother's funeral in March 2017. My grandmother always had a beautiful flower garden so, I hold this little phal dear to my heart 💗 Needless to say, due to lack of knowledge on my part my phal had gotten root rot bc of over watering. After lots of research and gaining a much better understanding of phalaenopsis care I repotted my phal 8/6/17. I've used Better-Gro Orchid Plus 20-14-13 Fertilizer on a bi-weekly weakly schedule; since it was just repotted I didn't want to overdo it. Anyhow, sorry for the novel 😉 I'm grateful for any suggestions or advice you may have! My actual reason for posting was to ask if you still offer your kelpmax in the 8oz size? I'm on a limited budget atm and with just my one phal for the time being, 8 ounces would be perfect 😀! The smallest quantity I could find was the liter bottle. Thank you so very much for your time and help!!
I've included a couple pics of my phal (it's poor leaves are droopy and wrinkled- I'm assuming stress?..). I have been lightly misting the leaves daily to help add moisture since I had to cut about 8-9 roots when I repotted. Also, I placed my phal back into my windowsill last week & I think it was still too soon and burnt my aerated roots a bit 😕...

I'm open to any and all suggestions anyone may have ☺

Hi Summer,

Welcome to the Orchid Board! Congratulations on saving your plant.

Almost none of us mists leaves. Orchids only take up water through the roots. Misting the leaves predisposes to rot.

Your leaves are wrinkled because the plant wasn't able to take up enough water. As the plant recovers, the new leaves should grow normally, without wrinkles. Sometimes wrinkled older leaves perk up, and other times they remain wrinkled.

Here is a good thread to read for growing Phals:
The Phal abuse ends here.

A liter (35 ounces) is almost the same size as a quart (32 ounces.)

Thanks so much for your response ☺ I do have a new leaf growing that is very healthy-looking and wrinkle-free 😊 although, it appears they have become more wrinkled since I attempted placing my phal back in my windowsill (it's home prior to repotting)... I'm hoping and praying as long as my new growth stays looking healthy that I'm in the clear As for the misting, I could have been misinformed however, I thought that if you cut quite a few roots when repotting it was good to mist the leaves bc not as many roots are able to take in moisture... Am I wrong in my belief?.. Thanks again for your help and nice to meet you

Hi Summer, Misting of leaves does not help Phals. The water evaporates quickly. It may predispose to fungus attack. If you are able to raise the relative humidity around the plant that would help reduce evaporation until it grows more roots.

So good to know!! Thanks so much!!!
I live in southwest Louisiana so, generally speaking humidity is readily available 😉

Btw, I mentioned quart size kelpmax in my initial post however, I meant to inquire about the 8 oz. bottle 😊

Sorry, Summer, but the demand for the 8 ounce size of KelpMax was so small, and when adding shipping cost, it ended up be the least cost effective, so I eliminated it a while ago.

Now, 1 liter is the smallest size, but shipping in the US is free.

It works great, I've used it on all my indoor plants, not just orchids fyi. Welcome to the orchid board!
