I got this Tolumnia Genting Orange recently at the local orchid show & I've had the Dendrobium phalaenopsis for about a year.

Is that color real on that dendrobium??
I've never seen true violet, but it is very nice!

NYCorchidman, I have no doubt that it is! I've seen dens with similar coloring to this one at Lowe's. I've almost bought them several times, but keep passing them up because I'm not sure I have the light they need.

I've seen ones with violet with blue hues, but not this violet. it almost looks dyed.

Anyways, when you buy these dendrobiums in bloom, you don't need to worry about the proper light.

You want to worry more about the temperature.

All summer out in high light & wintering under T5HOs = true color :-)
Smaller flowers than last year but whoa I'm a fan of these brights. I did just about scorch them (notice their lack of leaves). Hopefully next year's growth will green in quickly. More buds to come too, so I'll update the post.
Thx!

They are both lovely, but that den, holy cow there is no way I would have passed that up even though I have no idea if I could grow one.
