Sending props to all the honest orchid vendors out there!! Female
Default Sending props to all the honest orchid vendors out there!!

My husband and I traveled to Ohio for a show yesterday. I wanted a species phalaenopsis from a smaller vendor, but the plant had some spotting that concerned me. I asked the vendor about the spots, as I find most vendors to be open and honest about a plant's issues because if they disclose it when asked you have the choice to buy the plant or not as a consumer. If you choose to buy the plant and the issues are disclosed you really can't be upset with the vendor. So I expected an honest answer from the vendor, his response was the new growth was clean so he's not concerned (I was looking at the plant and new growth was not clean). I pressed a bit further to give him a chance to be honest, his response was it may be sunburn. I am very familiar with sunburn, this was definitely not sunburn. Obviously, I bought nothing from this vendor. If he didn't know what the spoting was from I just would have appreciated an honest answer of I don't know and if he didn't want to disclose I would have appreciated an answer of I rather not disclose.

With the above being stated, I just want to extend a big thank you to all of the honest sellers out there. At this same show there was a vendor who wouldn't charge me for a plant that had some issues, even though I offered to pay a discounted price, they just gave me the plant and refused the money. Because of this vendor's honesty, I bought more plants from him and will return in the future.

I have also dealt with vendors over the phone who have taken pictures of plants for me before I buy a plant, so I know exactly what I'm paying for and what condition the plant is in! Once again, thank you to all the honest vendors out there!

And since I feel that acknowledgement of good service is important! Here's my list of vendors I've recently had great experiences with, if you've had a great experience with vendors recently (past 6 months) feel free to give them some praise below.

Thank you: Andy's orchids, Carmela's (eBay store), Orchid Trail, Big Oak Orchids (eBay), Marni Turkel, Seattle Orchids and Ecuagenera.

Note: Since companies can change over time, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse, I wanted to give my praise for my most current interactions and I felt 6 months to be fitting.
