Thanks Ross.

You gave me a good idea. I already have a tray 9" X 38" with a drain on the end to drain the extra water. Now I need to find a good place for it. I have one good place close to my HPS light except it is an outside basement wall. I could also place it in front of a N/NW window in that same area but that may also be too cold in the winter (You know Michigan winters).

I now have seed for thought. Thanks for the suggestion. If I can find a place, it sounds perfect.

Marilyn

Marilyn, you may be able to use the coolness of the Michigan winters to advantage. There are lots of Phals that respond better and set spike better with a cool-down. Several minis like the cool break that our winters provide. A few will tolerate occasional light frost (like Epidendrum ellipticum) but 40-50 is pretty much the cuttoff point for the more attractive 'chids. My box-bay window runs 65-67 as a daytime high in winter unless the full sun heats it up. Night time temps are 62 (the thermostat setting). I grow Brassias, Cats, Phals, Dendros, lots of intergenerics and lots of minis under this setup. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Default Culling out non-performers

I'm curious, how do you cull out the non-perfomers? Send them to me before you throw them out! That is, if you throw them out. I have lots of patience!
