Default Some great orchid prints I bought

While in Paris last weekend I found a street vendor near Notre Dame selling lots of beautiful prints, among which was a huge stack of orchid prints. I had to buy a few! Wish I could have gotten more. They weren't that expensive, but not cheap either... It was not easy to pick which I wanted.

All of the prints have what seems to be a page number at the bottom. The Catt seems to be out of a different book. Anyone know what book(s) these prints may be out of? I'd love to get one!

These are getting framed and going up on a wall. Next time I go to Paris I'll get more!

I don't blame you at all, Camille. Worth any type of framing in my opinion.
As a matter of fact you should, have fun

There were a few Belgian, French and British botanical journals published in the late 1800's/early 1900's - Revue Horticole, La Belgique Horticole, & Revue de l'Horticulture Belgique being some of the big ones.

I have several originals in my own collection. My favorite being a cypripedium from 1793.

I have scanned copies of about 125 or so, and offer reprints for folks looking for artwork.

Before I got into orchid growing, I dabbled in botanical drawing. I have quite a collection of reproductions of prints. Yours are worth being framed!

Camille - I did a couple of reverse image lookups on google images (drag and drop the images onto another window with images.google.com open);
the Lycaste seems to be from Warner Orchid Album
Robert Warner and Thomas Moore's illustrious Orchid Album, Comprising Colored Figures and Descriptions of New, Rare and Beautiful Orchidaceous Plants, London: Published by B.S. Williams, at the Victoria and Paradise Nurseries, 1882-1897. The Orchid Album was illustrated by the master illustrator of orchids, John Nugent Fitch. His original drawings are in the Natural History Museum, South Kensington. References include Nissen BBI 2107; Great Flower Books,p.80; 187; Stafleu 6282.

Hope this helps!

p.s. here's a YouTube video of one on display.

If you were paying less that E100 a print, I reckon you were getting a bargain! Warner Orchid Album Antique Prints 1882

Also, as this is out of copyright, you can probably get digital versions, like this one: The orchid album, comprising coloured figures and descriptions of new, rare, and beautiful orchidaceous plants : Warner, Robert, ed : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive

Several other editions seem to be available as well: Internet Archive Search: the orchid album
