Default A Couple of New Additions

I discovered that there was an orchid show near here this weekend (The Heart of Dixie Orchid Society Show) so I went over to check it out yesterday. I got a helpful handout on orchid names, met some very friendly members of the orchid society, and saw a lot of beautiful orchids. The number and variety of orchids was so overwhelming to a beginner like me that I almost didn't get anything. I got over that feeling quickly though. I planned on buying one new orchid, something different from what I already have, but ended up buying two baby orchids. On the left is a mounted Angraecum leonis. That was the first one I chose because I decided I wanted to try a mounted orchid. The one on the right is a little Sedirea japonica that had just finished blooming. I added it at the last minute when I smelled the bloom on another one. I must have been in the mood for orchids with white scented blooms this time.

Thanks! I'm happy with them. We'll see if I can keep a mounted orchid alive.

The other Sedirea japonica was a little bigger and such a nice orchid but it had already been promised to someone.

One thing that I and others here have noticed, The Sedirea is the not the easiest of orchids to bloom. I'm still trying to figure mine out...

Very nice!
I'm having another go at Sedirea myself - killed one a few years ago; too much water most likely

I figured Sedirea might be a challenge but, hey, that's the fun of it, right?
