Default Obsessed with Paphiopedilums...

Yup, they've sneakily invaded my heart while I wasn't looking, all it took was one fore-runner to do the work and now I'm hooked. My Phals will still outnumber my future Paphs 3 to 1 I think, but still!

So far I've ordered these:

Paph. appletonianum
Paph. hainanense (should arrive tomorrow, yay!)
Paph. purpuratum
Paph. dayanum
Paph. ciliolare
Paph. sublaeve
Paph. Maudiae Vinicolor 'Schwarze Madonna'
Paph. gratrixianum (probably)

Traded a P. equestris for a Paph. villosum so I'll have one of those too.

I'm pondering about whether I should order a Paph. venustum, a Paph. linii, and a Paph. violascens too. So far I haven't decided yet.

Oh, and hopefully I might be able to add my very first multifloral Paph. to my non-existent collection too, a Paph. roebelenii.

I've gotten it BAD. Both when it comes to Paphs and Phals... I don't even dare to write how many Phals I've ordered these last two months. You'll get to see when my orders start arriving (which they should next week if I have any say in it).

Try venustum. The alba form is especially weird. The pouch looks like mutant alien brains! -Stephen

It is best to get them all at once so you can enjoy them longer. That is sort of what I did. I went from four or five that I'd had for a long time to about fifty in two years. If I wasn't adding to my general plant collection also, it might have been worse. Anyway, getting them sooner rather than later is my policy with plants as they get better every year. : )

I love your way of thinking leafmite! I built up slowly due to cash flow problems as a student, but as soon as I move and have more space for orchids, I will fully embrace your philosophy!
But I think the Mutant went from 4-5 to about 50 in less than 2 MONTHS!

Yup.

I never do anything halfheartedly, it's "do or die" for me or maybe "all or nothing" seems to be my philosophy.

Man, you got it bad.

When my husband starts complaining I'm going to show him your opening post.

I totally agree! It doesn't feel like I'm wasting my money since I spend them on living things, and as long as I can care properly for them, it's okay I think.
