Default Pictures from Tatton Park Orchid Show

Nicky, Michelle (Triffid) and myself met up at Tatton Park Orchid Show today. We had a really great time and for me it was my first opertunity to meet other members of Orchid Board and also my first visit to an orchid show... I just had such a great time.

So I thought I would start this thread for us to show our pictures. Only one pic for now, but more to follow tommorow when it's not so late and I've had time to upload them. I'm sure Nicky & Michelle had lots of pics as well.

I bought eight new orchids so pics of them will also follow, probably in a seperate thread as lots of them were Genuses I've not grown before so I will have to ask some questions about their care (I did ask the stall holders but there was so much going on in the day I've forgotten most of it )

This is (from left to right) me, Nicky and Michelle shortly after we had met up.

Sounds like you guys had an amazing time. Orchid shows are great, but orchid shows with orchid friends is even better (I'm jealous!) Nicky, that Masdie veitchiana is your photos is just Are the colors really like that.

Need more pictures, I wanna see what you all bought!

We really did have an amazing time Camille! That Masdie was the star of the show - I'm sure Rosie has some great photos of it too! If anything the colours were more vibrant - depending upon where you were standing it might appear more red, or more purple.

I bought a Phal Mini Mark, Dendrobium Polar Fire, Cattleya mossiae, and Miltoniopsis Anneville. I'll try to post a link to them in the other thread!

Great pics.

I thought that Laelia Purporata was the star of the show though. Your picture of it is wonderful Nicky, but does not really show how massive it was. When they carried it in everyone was looking at it.

I loved the Masdi veitchianna and I'm sure I have some pics, I'm about to start sorting through them now and getting things uploaded. From my memory looking at the screen on the camera my pictures showed it more pink than it was though... it was actually a very vibrant dark red.

[Edit] Actually I've just realised that I think I had pictures of the other veitchianna there. It was a more solid red than the one that East Midlands had. I loved both of them though and it really makes me hope I can get mine to flower one day.

You're right Rosie - I only really got the flower on the Laelia. It really was huge - sitting on the table it was taller than me! So impressive.

Looking forward to seeing your pics!

Default North of England Orchid Society

OK so I have to go out soon, but here our my pics from the stand of the North of England Orchid Society. More from other parts of the show later, as well as the pics of my purchases.

They had some stunning plants on display. One I didn't get a picture of was a tiny tiny Haraella retrocalla which I've seen lots of pics of here on OB before but never seen in person. It was sooo cute and just had to go on my wishlist!

Camille... look out for the equestris, it was gorgeous, I've never seen one in person before and while I knew the flowers were tiny and I was suprised just HOW tiny there are... I love it even more!

All of my pics can be clicked on for a big version. The orchids I've marked as NoID may have had tags, but I either didn't see the tag, or didn't take a picture of it to remember when I got home.

NoID Masda

Masda Sugar Baby x Tuakau Candy

NoID Miltoniopsis

Phal equestris var Appari

NoID Cyp

Various Miltoniopsis

Vanda Sovis

Phal corni cervii - I'm slightly confused by this one as I thought corni cervii had dark markings.

Disa watsonii

NoId Phrag

NoID Brassia
