I caught a 30 lb chinook (king) about 10 years ago in Puget Sound and it was quite a thrill. The fish took my bait and ran with it, jumped out of the water a few times and took about 20 minutes to bring in. These are beautiful fish!

Great pictures guys! My brother-in-law up in NY is an avid fisherman. Over the weekend, in Montauk, he and his team won a tournament for the largest Mako shark, brought him in at 247 lbs. Very cool stuff, wish I had been there. The one they got last year was something like 214 lbs or around there.

Do you have a pic of the 30 pounder ? The one in the pic took me 45min to pull out. It got hooked 300' deep and it took out over 700' of line. It was a battle, I had to tire him out first, every time I'd get him close to the boat, he'd take off like a rocket. My arm was very sore the next day...especially that I pulled out 3 other ones that day - although not as big.

attached few more pics from the same trip. Together we got 12 of them!

No pictures......It was a beautiful fish, and I was fishing about 60 ft down with herring when it hit. The fish immediately took off and jumped out of the water about 30-40 yards away. Fortunately I didn't have as much line out as you! 30 pounders are fairly unusual these days, although there are some lunkers out there even bigger. They probably are more plentiful in BC than Puget Sound....
