Katie, Glad you enjoyed it! It was a big deal for me to get him up to speak to the society. It doesn't matter if your a seasoned grower or a newbie, Bill is engaging and informative.

I'm driving him out to Buffalo this afternoon. Thats a good hour in the car to pick his brain

Oooo...an hour in the car with Bill!
Can you take notes and drive at the same time?

I try to absorb and remember every word he says when he's speaking about orchids...the rest of the time, I'm laughing 'cause he's one funny guy!

What chids did you get from him? Huh? Huh?

Please tell him Susanne B from the TOC says hello

Oh, there are about 40 or 50 different seedlings of his crosses out in the greenhouse and a number of divisions from his awarded plants. I don't remember exactly what I got from him last night. I preordered and they're all still wrapped up. After coffee I'll go out and pot them up

Hey Paul!
I didn't introduce myself last night as it was my first time at the orchid society meeting. I'll bring my dues money next month and sign up fr real (assuming I don't have to work). I'm the girl who the guy gave the free winning raffle ticket too! WHoop go me!

Hey Sue,
I didn't realize there were going to be orchids for sale so I didn't bring any money! Probably good though b/c I would have bought several! Although I did win a cute little oncidum coerulus

Katie

Hi Katie! No worries. Our speakers usually bring plants to sell and even if they don't a few members will usually bring in divisions to sell off so there are always opportunities! Usually I make a pre-order with the speaker. This way I can go through they're sales lists and do some research. It helps me learn a little and I feel a little more informed. Hope to see you next month!

Hi Tim :

Although Bill Thoms is a great guy to get advice from, we have a number of very good Bulb growers right here on OB

Post any of your questions and I'm sure we can help you
