Ouch!!!

Before teeing off on the 1st hole I always take out my ditty bag of tees and ball markers and my golf glove placing them in the golf cart. One day I could not find my golf glove although I was certain that I'd taken it out of my golf bag...After several minutes of searching, I looked over to my left hand, where, to my great chagrin, I was already wearing my golf glove. When your "senior moments" start to become hours...then you worry.

Has anybody ever looked for their glasses while they're on your face?

umm....guilty.....

I currently have a homemade 4 bank reptile enclosure. Its complete, but wiring and glass doors are only being done as each enclosure is brought into use.
Well, I have dyslexia but with numbers not letters. I measured for the glass twice and made allowances for the plastic track. Knowing I have issues with numbers I asked the OH to check, but he said "oh, it'll be fine". So the glass was ordered, paid for, picked up late on a saturday and guess what....waayy too big! DUH. And glass places are not open saturday afternoons....

The biggest DUH! is that I did the same thing for another enclosure 2 weeks later....also on a saturday...

I am now banned from measuring for glass.

"Duh" is my middle name. I'm more accident-prone and clumsy than a bull in a china shop.

I'll share some of the less embarrassing moments with you:

- About a year ago, I woke up thirsty in the middle of the night and got up to get a glass of water. My apartment was very dark, and I had a hard time seeing where I was going. As I was fumbling for a light switch, I tripped over a pair of shoes and did a belly flop on the floor. When I turned on the light, I was startled by the fact that I came within inches of hitting a countertop and breaking my nose.

- When I was in Elementary school, my fourth-grade teacher asked me if I could take some papers to a Mr. Bailey on the second floor. I went to the right classroom, but I felt intimidated because it was full of sixth-graders. I was so nervous that I said "These papers are for Mr. Smith." Everyone in that room laughed at me, and I was so mortified that I avoided the second floor of the school for the rest of the year. Of course, the students who saw my slip-up were quick to tease me whenever they saw me on the playground. I don't think I'll ever live it down, even if it did happen long ago.

- As far as orchids go, I've had my share of "duh" moments. One day, I was watering my plants in my tub, and I heard one of my neighbors knock on my door. I went to the door to answer, and we ended up having a long conversation. I totally forgot that I had left a plant under the tub spout. When my neighbor left, I heard the water running and and wondered why I had left it running in the first place. That's when I remembered that I had left the plant under the stream of water. When I got to the bathroom, the water had literally pushed it and the potting medium out of the pot and into the tub. Some of the medium had gotten into the drain and clogged it, so what I ended up seeing was an orchid, a plastic pot, and loose medium floating in my tub. I had to ask the maintenance guy to unclog my drain, and I ended up having to repot the plant. It survived the fiasco, but now, every time I see it, it reminds me of that less-than-graceful day.

Way too many Duh! moments to post them all, but I will give you the one that still P's me off. I have a wooden ledge about 5ft. off the ground where I WAS keeping my orchids. I have a Lc. Irene's song "Montclair" HCC/AOS that had 3 new buds for the first time under my care. I was so happy that I took pictures everyday to document the progress. Well one morning I went to take a picture and decided that the light was better near the edge of the shelf (you can see where this is going) After positioning the plant just right I then started to adjust the camera setting, and as I was doing so I noticed the plant starting to fall. So with my cat like reflex's I reached out with my left hand to catch the falling pot. Well instead of grabbing the pot I grabbed one of the buds and it immediately broke of in my hand as the plant fell to the ground. I can't tell you how heart broken I was staring at a broken pot and plant on the ground a camera in one hand and a not fully open flower in my other. I need a aspirin.

Hmm... well at the weekend I decided to move some outdoor floor standing shelving to a suitable spot to have orchids on it (a nice shaded spot).

I moved the shelves, put some orchids on it, then noticed that due to uneven ground the shelves were leaning... so I decided to adjust them with bits of brick under the legs without taking the orchids off first

Hubby came running as I shouted out and found me with a den upside down on my head with bark all over me and all over the grass.

I can't believe I was lucky and it was only ONE of them that fell off!
