Default Please recommend Orchid vendors near Davis, California

I will be spending time in Davis, Ca. soon and would appreciate recommendations for orchid vendors nearby. It is located between Sacramento and San Francisco.

Thanks you

Dorothy

Thanks for helping me start the search. I am glad I am not going to Southern California where most of the temptations seems to be.

Gold Country Orchids east of Sacto in Lincoln CA. They specialize in mini-Catts.

I can't recommend any vendors, but you should check out the arboretum at U.C. Davis and the gardens at U.C. Berkeley (Berkeley has over 1000 orchids in their collection).

Berkeley is a little more than an hour away from Davis, but I'll bet it's worth the trip. I haven't been to either, myself, but someday....

I'm sure there are other great gardens to check out too!

Terri

Thanks for the lead. I had no idea about where it was in Cal. Alan Koch brought some amazing minis to the Parkside Orchidfest 4 years ago and gave an interesting presentation about his breeding program. I bought a few of his hybrids but I had no no experience with minis at that time and lost most of them. I would love to see his place and try again. His website and mail order reviews have not been terrific.
