Default Brooklyn Trader Joe's on Labor Day

Just got back from the Trader Joe's on Court St. in Brooklyn and wanted to give a head's up to any locals. They must have gotten a shipment of orchids in the last day or so, b/c the selection was pretty good today (this was at 3 pm on Labor Day). Besides all the phals and dens, there were a bunch on Onc. intergenerics, like Tahoma Glacier, Butter Buds, Heaven Scent, and many yellow onc. types. Additionally, there was a Milt hybrid (which I bought!) and a few Zygopetalums as well. Everything was between 8 and 15 dollars that I saw, some good deals, some plants were labeled, some not.

I wonder if the Danbury store got any? I'm craving their peach salsa, so I might have to go see. This could be trouble.

Are Zygopetalums hard to grow in an apartment?

Well I've had my Zygo for just under a year and it's made 2 new growths, 1 of them flowered nicely. I've kept it on the fire escape all summer, it's got another new growth right now, no sign of a spike yet though. When I first got it, it got lots of that black spotting Zygos seem to get...it abated after the first 2 months and only gets it now if it's misted. I don't find it any harder to keep in an apartment than my other orchids (I have dens, vandas, various onc alliance species and intergenerics, paphs, phals, angracoids, and a few catt types).
