Default I went nuts at the Redlands festival!

I went nuts at the Redlands Festival on Friday!

It was just a little international commerce to do my part towards stimulating the economy…and my ever growing orchid collection.

Here are a few photos of the plants I brought home. Below you'll find the vendor name and the name of the plants pictured (in order from left to right). You'll see that almost all of them are species…and many were on my wish list as generated from posts on the OB! A few will be a challenge growing in my area, but I'm game…with these 29 new plants, I now have 442 plants in my collection!

Photos 1 and 2 from Plantio La Orquidea (Sarasota, FL)
  1. Aerides flabellate (plant and close-up)

Photo 3 from Hamlyn Orchids Ltd. (Jamaica)
  1. Broughtonia jamaicensis
  2. Broughtonia negrilensis

Photo 4 from Miranda Orchids (Haines City, FL)
  1. Oncidium sarcodes
  2. Cattleya nobilior
  3. Cattleya nobilior var. coerulea
  4. Renanthera storiei
  5. Cattleya schofieldiana

Photo 5 from Ooi Leng Sun Orchids (Malaysia)
  1. Paphiopedilum hookerae
  2. Paphiopedilum concolor var. striatum
  3. Coelogyne rochussenii

Photo 6 from Florália (Brazil)
  1. Trichocentrum jonesianum var. binotii
  2. Leptotes bicolor
  3. Sophronitis milleri

Photo 7 from Ecuagenera Cia Ltd. (Ecuador)
  1. Maxillaria hennisiana
  2. Trichocentrum nanum

And photo 8 from Oak Hill Gardens (West Dundee, IL) – my only pre-ordered plants
  1. Vanda tricolor var. suavis
  2. Paphiopedilum spicerianum
  3. Encyclia ambigua
  4. Haraella retrocalla
  5. Dendrobium smilliae
  6. Chaubardia heteroclite (was Huntleya)
  7. Trichotosia pulvinata (was Eria rufinula)

Man, I wish I had been able to go. There were a lot of vendors at that festival that I wanted to check out. Alas, without transportation, there was no way for me to even consider going there. There's always next year, I guess.

Congrats on your new additions, though. 442 plants? Wow...I only have ten. I feel like a raw novice.

Nicely done, my friend!

Isn't Redlands a great experience? I wish it weren't so far from me

Maybe there's a flight from Tampa to Miami for next year's?

Something to think about

Thanks for sharing your haul with us...I love them all

Wonderful collection, David. Not sure where you'll put them (it was pretty crowded in the shade house after all )

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)
