Default A Satisfied Orchid Buyer

Hey folks. I recently purchased some orchids online, and had a really great experience. When I asked the company if I could write them a customer testimonial, they said that I'd be doing them more of a favor if I just gave them some glowing praise on an online forum. So here I am!

The company is Andy's Orchids (Andy's Orchids - Orchid Species - Orchids - Species Specialist - Orchids on a stick), and I'd been drooling over their online inventory for months. They have a huge A-Z selection of species orchids. Before I placed my order, I emailed them with questions and received a satisfactory response the same day. My order was easy to place, went through without a hitch, and I received it exactly when it was supposed to arrive.

However, I had made a mistake when typing my delivery address. Andy's called me right away and gave me all the delivery info, including the number to FedEx and the address for the "missed package" pickup station. I received all 8 plants in excellent condition, including two plants in full flower whose blooms were perfectly unharmed. They have all done very well in the last few weeks that I have had them.

A few days ago I received a follow-up call from Andy's, making sure that my order had arrived to my satisfaction and to see if I had any questions. They remembered my address slip-up and told me (without my asking) that they had corrected the mistake in their files for future orders.

Now, this may seem like just plain customer service, but I really appreciated the care and quality of every step in the process of getting my plants. It would be really easy to screw up something as delicate as ordering live orchids over the internet, and Andy's did it with ease and a smile.

I'm sorry that my first post on these forums is a plug for a company, but I owe it to them. I do not work for or know them personally. I do not endorse them over any other company, because this was my first online order. I believe it is possible that there are other companies with better, cheaper plants. I also understand that other people may have had experiences with Andy's Orchids that were not as pleasant as mine. But I made my first online purchase of my favorite living things in the whole wide world, and Andy and his crew really came through for me. If this helps bring them business and helps customers find the same kind of experience that I had, then I'm glad I could help.

Hi JonnyBravo, Welcome to OB!
Thanks so much for the wonderful about Andy's Orchids. Many of us have been fortunate to order from them again and again. It's one of our favorite vendors here. I agree that they have exceptional service and that puts them on top on many's lists.
And now it's brought you to a wonderful friendly site here that I've been a part of for a few years now. If you have any questions or want to share photos of your chids, please do! We love
So, what did you get from Andy's? Do you have a many orchids? Again, welcome!!!!!

Andy's is where I ordered my pescatorea. The plant they sent me decided to reward me with a bud only a short time after I got it. I just repotted the plant and noticed the little guy growing in a leaf axil. Don't have a camera to post the picture, though.

They have several plants that I want to order, but I won't be able to do any more ordering until the end of the summer. Haven't gotten a follow-up call LOL.

I don't recall ever hearing a negative review of Andy's. I agree with you, Johnny. Customer service is important to me, and scarce these days.

Oh, and welcome. I hope you find the OB to be friendly and useful. This is THE online forum (and Andy's knows it).

Thanks for the welcome! Let's see, I bought some Tolumnia- bahamensis, pulchellum, variegatum, calochilum, and prionochilum. 2 Encyclias- hanburyii and (Prosthechea) radiata. I also got a cute little Leptotes pohlitinocoi, like the one Sun rm.N.E. got from Andy at a show.

The rest of my collection is pretty much the same- heat and light tolerant plants that can take watering almost daily, but still dry out between waterings. The Florida sun can be pretty brutal on the more cool/moist types, since I'm just growing under shadecloth and trees... But I love the Encyclias and Brassavolas, Vandas and their kin are cool... I have about 30-40 plants, mostly species with a few of the "Home Depot hybrids" that people have gotten me because they know I like orchids.

I look forward to seeing you guys around the boards, hope to post some pix of my shadehouse and plants soon!
