Although I see my method hasn't followed the flickr guidlines and does not link back to flickr.
OK, now I've got it in a way that does link back by following the instructions in the first message and it results in more complex HTML. I'm trying to think of a way to explain what you should see in your message if it has worked, but every time I do that it just shows the image instead. |
To get it to work do step two, which will give you what I said first [IMG] followed by link followed by [/IMG].
Then select from [IMG] to [/IMG] and everything in between. Click 'insert link' and enter the link again into the box which appears. I hope that helps, but maybe I've just made it even more confusing. :) |
Here's the structure of the BB code...
HTML Code:
[URL="Replace this with your flickr page URL"][IMG]Replace this with your Image URL[/IMG][/URL] HTML Code:
[URL="http://www.flickr.com/photos/epiphyte78/3385482484/"][IMG]http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3419/3385482484_9711b1bc3e_m.jpg[/IMG][/URL] http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3419/...11b1bc3e_m.jpg |
Ah, you've found a way to show the format of the code.:clap: Every time I tried that it just put the picture in or turned the text in between in to a link.

It would be very helpful if flickr just included the BB code like they include the html code for each image size. |

Wow, I got it! I have to say though, it took me like 5 or 10 minutes to get that and I grew up with computers. I highly doubt that many of our members who did not grow up with computers will even attempt this. If flickr can make this process easier, then it might be adopted. Until then, though, you will probably see mostly links to the site in posts.

Actually...you mostly got it. The photo is supposed to link back to the main page for that photo...the page that contains the description, tags, comments.
I guess I kind of figured that forum members would already be fairly comfortable using the formatting buttons. It's really only a matter of wrapping a URL tag around an image tag. |
In the link you have that says: [IMG]Replace this with your Image URL[/IMG]
I was not sure where to find the "Replace this with your Image URL" portion so I just substituted it with a second "Replace this with your flickr page URL" |
This is your flickr page URL...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/35910677@N04/3384100038/ And this is your Image URL... http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3576/3384100038_2a6387d53a_b.jpg |
