Smile Joined my local OS last night

I went to my second meeting with the local orchid society here and went ahead and joined myself up. Both times I have just felt like they were good people, and I'd like to be able to learn more through attending shows, and even helping out with one in time.

Last night was Bingo for Orchids night. It was fun. I haven't played bingo in many, many years so I had to ask how it went! Although I didn't get a "bingo" I did come home with a new orchid. One kind member who had a really hot card let me pick a plant in his place See, I told you they were nice people!

Anyhow, I picked a little Brassia Rex Christane.

So, it's called the Tropical Plant Society of Modesto. I was wondering if there are any members here on the boards that I wasn't aware of. Some people don't have their location by their names, so I thought it possible. So, if you're a TPSM member... Hi!

Thats a great story. I havn't had the guts to check out my local group yet. But the few I've met at the local grower's place seem very cool. Maybe I'll grab a set and dive in!

Way to go, Nichole!

Remember, clubs need the participation of their members to be a successful club...and unfortunately most folks would rather just sit and let the others do everything.

Get involved...it's how you will learn the most, it can also lead to some great orchid "connections"

If you have the chance to clerk at a show, jump on it! You can absorb SO much knowledge just by listening to the judges.
