Default Already Hooked

I want to say a big to Susanne for helping me with my problem of getting knocked off the forum all the time!!

I'm new to the forum and pretty new to orchids as well, I look forward to learning more and getting more orchids of different types. I must say that it doesn't take long to get hooked into orchids. I had a dream the other night that I bought a lot more orchids and I was soooo happy

I was browsing the site earlier and saw a post about mounted orchids that had a great picture of a beautiful display of mounted orchids. I showed my husband and said "How cool is that" his response to me was "Don't be getting any ideas", well too late!

I'm already thinking about the next one I should get!

Thanks to everyone who replied to my first post, you are all so much help. I look forward to communicating to you all in the future and sharing the wonders of orchid growing.

Can't wait to see what your next one will be! Welcome, by the way (just in case I missed your newbie post.) Sue can be such an enabler, can't she?

Thanks for the greeting! i can't wait to see what my next one will be! I'm already excited and I have no idea what it will be. Any suggestions? I live in TN and it is getting cold outside. I know that the heat from central heat can kill orchids, I know from first hand experience.
My first post was titled " Hello,Boy do I have questions" it's in the introductions section.

If you are looking to purchase, I would recommend Tolumnias. They like lots of water from the sink, but really dry air and really drying situations in the house. But also really high levels of light - the higher the better, like full sun if possible. Still, they can be very rewarding orchids for a beginner. Try Oncidiums (scroll down to Tolumnias). They take almost no space. Give them constant (daily) water and drying in between times. Fertilzer is good as well.

Welcome Amamda,

You'll find alot of advice and information here at OB. Have fun growing and post your pics.

You'll be having new chids following you home in no time. As my husband says "anything to make you happy since the big kids are gone & these chids are cheaper than remodeling". I came home with 5 today from a show. He only was advised of 4 Wait till he sees it bloom!

My advice to you is let hubby stroll around with you while you are "window shopping" and which ever one he likes, get it for him. Then you get to pick out one too Sometimes a 3rd follows the other 2 home

I like your husbands way of rationalizing. You can also remind him that it is also a lot cheaper than having another kid. Orchids don't talk back, you always know where thay are, and saving for a college fund costs a lot more than an orchid plant now and then........or 3 or 5 or more.
