Gone for a month - Orchid Board

Taking off for a month for long overdue vacation. I'll be doing 2 weeks in Asia (Bali, HongKong, Bangkok, Singapore) and 2 weeks in Australia (Brisbane, Cairns, Port Douglas, Sydney, Ayers Rock, Alice Spring)

It will be busy, but fun busy. I can't wait, it will be sooo much fun. I'll post some pics once I come back. In the mean time, hopefully things will run smoothly here

Enjoy your trip! I am looking forward to lots of pictures. Your posting got me thinking - any suggesting for orchid care while I am away for two weeks. My orchids are growing under lights. Should I turn them off while I am away? What about watering?

Hey Marty,

Have a great one while you are away! Asia and Australia - how fantastic is that. Any plans to import orchids or darts?

No doubt you could overdose looking at orchids in asia.

Times that I have been away for more than a week, I had a family member or friend come in to water or at least mist generously.
I would not turn off the lights - that might screw then up, effect any spikes that are forming, etc.

If away for a week or less, I water well without any fertilizer, turn down the fans and the heat and apply a bit more TLC upon my return.

I grow under fluorescent lights.
