LOL...you guys are funny. It's nice to see the forum busier though, finally.
Wendy, I think my adoption of your growing plan was the turning point for me. If I don't love it, or it doesn't love me, it finds a new home. It's a good way to keep the numbers in check. I'm actually down to around only 60 plants, and I'm really happy with that.

Actually I went from orchids to cacti for a while because I could basically ignore the cacti all winter. Then the bugs came. One by one the plants went in the trash till I am down to 5, rather large, cacti. But I started adding orchids again and now up to about 20 plants.
I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)
Yes Heather...I reached a point where i had more plants than i could realistically look after. They started to suffer because of crowding and my interest went down. Then i got influenza last spring and while i was really sick it hit me how quickly i could lose my collection if i didn't seriously thin the herd. So now i go through the room every once in awhile and ask myself....'Do i really NEED this one...would i buy it today if i saw it on a sales table?' If the answer is 'No' then it's time to find it a new home. In fact I sold a bunch more today. In a couple more months I will have more again as my compots get bigger and I make more divisions. My plants grow, I always buy more but my space says the same.
Tindo ... your a wealth of knowledge and see what you have brought to the table ... Ross and Marco in the running to catch up with you. Oh Marty, I thought I was the chatter box...think it's Tindo...numbers don't tell a fib. Let's go Wendy ...
